    Yamabiko Ryokan

Kurokawa Hot Springs lies at the border between Oita Prefecture and Kumamoto Prefecture. This small ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) of 19 rooms is located downstream of the hot spring. Ume, their Newfoundland dog mascot, will greet you at the front gate. The inn’s lodging hall and dining hall sandwich the river and are joined by a rendezvous bridge. Guest rooms and indoor baths are located in the lodging hall. Meals are served in kaiseki style in private rooms and are made with local ingredients. You can enjoy Kurokawa’s largest outdoor bath and reserve six kinds of private baths, exclusive to staying guests at no extra charge. Each floor of the lodging hall includes spaces where you can relax. We hope you’ll relax and unwind as long as your time permits.

    Meoto Falls

Meoto Falls is a hot topic on social media as a place where you can take mysterious photos. It is popular both because of its rarity for the two rivers that cascade into the same confluence and because it is known as a waterfall for meeting, and thus a romantic spot. One of the falls is called the “male” waterfall, and the other is called “female.”

    Tateiwa Water source Park

"Tateiwa Headwater is a famous headwater designated by Kumamoto Prefecture as one of its hundred best headwaters of the Heisei era. This headwater offers a pure and soft water, which nourishes the natural beauty of Aso, with an ample output of 380 tons per day; it is valued as a source of clean and delicious drinking water.
No fee is charged to draw water from the headwater.
There is also a small shrine for the worship of water gods, where those who draw water are often seen making offerings of money."

    Hiranodai Highland Viewing Platform

"Hiranodai Highland Viewing Platform, which has a splendid location overlooking all of Mt. Aso’s five peaks, was recognized on April 1st, 2009, as a sacred place for lovers. It is also known as Lovers’ Hill. You can thoroughly enjoy the vast panorama of Hakuju Range and Kurokawa Hot Springs to the east and Mt. Aso and Aso City in the distance to the south, which make this a popular spot for commemorative photographs.
A “Lovers’ Bell” has been installed on the observation deck, allowing pairs to pledge their eternal love as they ring it. The clear, beautiful tone of the bell resonates far and wide as you ring it."

    The Hill of Oshitoisi

Oshitoishi Hill can be reached by traveling along the farm road known as Mazeno Mystery Road. As you might expect from the name “Mystery Road,” you’ll find Oshitoishi Hill full of marvels. For example, some of the stones are carved with the world’s most ancient script, cuneiform (Sumerian writing), and some of the stones are magnetic, causing compass needles to waver when brought close. We hope you’ll enjoy Oshitoishi Hill, which is both a mysterious spot and a power spot!
